"Text-Rendering", "Close Reading" & "Reading with a Pen"… these are all different ways to talk about WHAT we do in class when we read our texts. We develop & answer questions… identify features that stand out…. discuss how different literary elements impact each other… and the list goes on!
GREAT readers engage with the text to build an understanding-- NO MATTER what the genre! ONE main goal is to identify what a "great writer" does, and emulate the strategies (craft, diction, style, technique) while learning to develop a personal VOICE! :) We will be investigating grammar, literary elements, writing techniques, and other things through a variety of "mentor texts" this year.
